Dr Gavin Tunnard FRCEM

Consultant in Emergency Medicine, Pre-hospital and Retrieval Medicine

I am in full time, active clinical practice, as a substantive Consultant in Emergency Medicine in the NHS.  I also practice as a Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Consultant (HEMS) for the regional air ambulance service.

I am an examiner for the Royal College of Emergency Medicine.  I am also a regular faculty member on Advanced Trauma Life Support courses nationally, as well as teaching nationally on level one ultrasound courses.  I have a role in national undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

I have published a number of articles in peer-review professional journals and have been a reviewer for the European Journal of Emergency Medicine.  I have also given a number of poster presentations at international conferences, most recently in 2019.  I hold Honorary Associate Status with the University of Aberdeen Medical School.

After graduation from medical school in 2006, I completed my foundation rotation in 2008, before commencing my training in Emergency Medicine in both the UK and Australia.  I gained my Fellowship to the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (FRCEM) in 2015 and have been practicing as a consultant since then, on a full-time basis.

I have completed formal training in the role of a medical expert witness and am fully compliant with the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges expert witness guidance.

My expanding practice currently sees me completing around 70 personal injury reports and 8 medical negligence cases per year across the UK and Ireland with an average turnaround time of 10 working days.
